The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of two entities within Bosnia and Herzegovina, the other entity being Republika Srpska. The federation consists of ten federal units - the cantons. The constituent people of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs, and the official languages ​​are Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian. The official letters are Latin and Cyrillic.

The capital is Sarajevo. The division of BiH with the inter-entity line changed the borders of some pre-war municipalities, ie some smaller municipalities were created in the Federation of BiH and the Republika Srpska. In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosanska Krupa, Sanski Most, Ključ, Bosanski Petrovac, Tešanj, Drvar, Kupres, Jajce, Gračanica, Kalesija, Gradačac, Lukavac, Tuzla, Orašje, Odžak, Stari Grad, Novo Sarajevo, Ilidža, Gorazde, Mostar, Stolac, Maglaj, Travnik and Donji Vakuf, and newly established municipalities are Dobretići, Doboj Jug, Doboj Istok, Domaljevac-Šamac, Čelić, Teočak, Sapna, Trnovo (FBiH), Pale-Prača, Foca-Ustikolina and Ravno. The Federation has a total of 79 municipalities.
